Walnut Stains -- Pecans too

Help, How do I Remove Walnut Stains. Reply

A: Walnut Stains. In a nutshell...... no pun intended, this is a temporary tattoo....... There really is nothing to do but learn from the experience and wear "Heavy Duty" gloves when you are shelling your walnuts I used the cheap kind you find in hospitals, and the gloves wore through

and I have some great stains on my hands, probably for another two weeks, glad I am on vacation now, and hide my hands at restaurants...... I know it's not funny now, but I did learn a valuable lesson, hope you can learn from yours also. I never would have done this, but I love black walnut ice cream and hardly anyone seems to sell it? Good Luck, Dave -- david jones Reply Oct 2010

A: Walnut Stain  I saw your posting on walnut stain. Well, I have a beautiful set of colored fingers after cleaning up my bumper crop of nuts this weekend. I work for a hand cleaner company (GOJO) and I tried about a dozen different products over the last couple days. Nothing worked, including specialty ink & stain removers, bleaches, and some stuff the lab cooked up special. We figured out that the stain actually penetrated several layers of skin and is basically a temporary tattoo. I think the only option is to wear it off. I tried the Cornell advice for taking the stain out of clothing, but it didn't do anything for me. It's detergent/vinegar, then alcohol, then bleach, then vinegar again. I'm hoping you found something that works. Please let me know if you did. I have a trip abroad this weekend and they already think we're strrange! Thanks.-- Mike Dolan    14 Oct 2003

A: - Walnut Shell Stains. There hasn't been a lot of replies recently about walnut stains but I suffered stains this past week and have been trying all the remedies tried already but without success. HOWEVER, peeling a red onion today I noticed that the brown stain started to come off my hands on to the cloth I was using. Maybe a one off and it didn't take off the stains on my nails but it does work a little. I would welcome replies from anyone who tries it and find out it works! -- Sylvia Denton Comment 05/10/09

Q: Black Walnut Stains  Hello ,  I got your address searching for a way to get rid of black walnut stains. I was aware that they stained but inconveniently forgot when some one told me that the smell would keep away the Sheep flies "Deer flies". I am having a hard time doing any yard work due to these awful pests. I wiped some black walnut juice just below my jaw line. The walnut was not ripe and the juice was clear so I thought it would not stain, boy was I wrong. Did any of you find out anyway to remove it?  Pleeease let me know Thanks "Stained" Reply 26/07/2005(Ref:1151)
