Answer: This is caused by the metal cutlery abrading the glazing coating the service. Try an old fashioned remedy from an old fashioned man - toothpaste! (Betcha it works!) -- Alan English.nspbob@tesco.net
Answer Black Metallic Marks on China. Hi, I have a very useful tip for people who are struggling with black metallic marks on their china. Dance Wax. We are country dancers with a dance scheduled in a new location tomorrow night. Unfortunately we didn't realize that they didn't have dance wax until after 6 p.m. this evening. To our dismay, the Cut Rate China Store in our town was already closed and won't reopen until Monday. Is there anything we can substitute for dance wax that will work? I appreciate your help. Answer: There are several things you can do to clean rust like build up from inside your dishwasher. You can run it empty with a cup of white distilled vinegar to clean out stain. If stain is still there, try a lime, rust and scale cleaner and run empty. I run vinegar through once a month and this prevents hard deposits from getting a head start. Question: Dust from Jersey Pea Stone. I recently built a dog kennel and used small white stone for the dog pen area. The problem is that the dogs get full of the dust and track it all over the house. I've sprayed the stone, used fabric softener, and it's rained about 10 times since I put it down. All these things have not cured the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Answer: Have a chat with a builder, there are sealants that can trap the dust. Mention the fact that it is for a dog pen as some chemical treatments may be unsuitable -- Amraliwalah
Question: Lipstick stains. My four year old thought it would be a good idea to paint the carpet with my darkest red lipstick (shamefully to say, he thought it looked better on the carpet than on me and he was correct), however, I have no idea how to get a stain like this up from the carpet without leaving a big pink spot.
