Question: Pine cones. I want to regenerate a small scots pine wood using the fir cones from the existing pines. I believe you have to stratisfy the cones to get them to germinate. Can any one tell me how to do this. All help will be gratefully received -- Rory RORYFOR@aol.com (Ref:0683)

Answer: Remove Shelf Paper, (Ref:0654) Try a product called Goof Off. It removes glue so if it will permeate the shelf paper or if you can get an edge started it should do the job. Phone hardware stores to find it. Judy Steele 3 Aug 2002

Answer: Try this, it's worked for me. Boil a whole bulb of cut up garlic until it's soft. Put it into a gallon of water and add 1 tablespoon of biodegradable Detergent. Let it sit for a day, then strain and spray. Also, planting parsley around your roses will help keep aphids away -- Anon

Answer: Try drilling thru the protector and then drilling into the wood at a different diameter. If you chose the drill sizes correctly you should have a good strong mount -- Les Salvatore Chicago
